Shahrooz is the spokesperson for the Massacre88 Campaign, a grassroots
initiative which successfully lobbied Canada’s parliament to recognize the 1988
(1367) massacre as constituting crimes against humanity under international
law. On June 5th, 2013, Canada became the first country in the world to grant
such recognition.
Mr.
Shahrooz is a Toronto-based lawyer. He is a graduate of Harvard Law
School, a member of the board of directors of the New Haven-based Iran Human
Rights Documentation Centre, and a former Senior Policy Advisor to Canada’s
Department of Foreign Affairs. He also served as prosecutor at the Iran
Tribunal at the Hague.
